Recruit with an EDID Focus
Introduction
As part of Western’s Strategic Plan and its mission to move towards a more equitable and inclusive landscape, we are equipping employers with the knowledge and resources to demonstrate our shared EDID values.
What is EDID?
EDID stands for equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization. See definitions below.
Equity 1
[Equity] is about each of us getting what we need to survive or succeed—access to opportunity, networks, resources, and supports—based on where we are and where we want to go.

Decolonization 4
A process of healing and moving away from a place of anger, loss, and grief toward a place where Indigenous Peoples can thrive.
Why is Western prioritizing EDID?
“Evolving as a university also means learning from our past. Creating a more welcoming and inclusive experience, particularly for people of colour, and Indigenous Peoples, will be critical.” 5
